Announcements
President Carolyn reminded us that this is the week of the Lunar New Year (Gung Hay Fat Choi). It is the Year of the Snake. The snake symbolizes wisdom and transformation, offering opportunities for personal growth and change. To celebrate, Carolyn made lucky almond cookies for the two truths and a lie. Dusty is probably still enjoying them!
There was a hefty Party Foul fine levied on Steve Grundmeier as his friends showed up last week to see Dusty speak. Oops, Dusty had been rescheduled. The Foundation is $100 richer this week. Jeff Ambrosia got an opportunity to spin the wheel for his good-natured heckling.
Our members had a great time on the Reno train trip. Thanks to James Lindsay for putting the trip together at the suggestion of Bob Dunstan who also came up with fellowship ideas like the book club that Bart O'Brien spearheaded. Then there was the progressive dinner hosted by Willicks, Mikles and Galyardt/Maita. All this fun earned these members a group Rotarian of the Month. Congrats to all!
Nick Willick needs help on Thursday at 2 PM for sanding at the Carnegie Library. Saturday the orange peel finish will be applied. Contact Nick for details.
Dan Gustavson: 2/28 is the Rotary ski/snow day which is weather dependent. The $20 passes are gone but he is looking for more. Snow tubing, snow shoeing etc. are all available activities. Hold April 5th for a morning golf tournament. Format will be 9 holes and 60 players max. The signup will be circulated in the next couple of weeks.
Steve Grundmeier let us know that we will have a dynamic speaker next week that you won't want to miss. She will be talking about an upcoming Rotary program that can be used in our local schools. Details to follow!
Carolyn auctioned off several bottles of wine from the Baker Family Winery. $70 was the going price with just enough left to put into the Giants Basket at our next Silent Auction.
Happy/Sad Bucks
Preston Colfax is happy that the Colfax cheerleaders are the national champs.
Catherine McGregor is happy that her son will be a nurse in the ER at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.
Raffle
The pot is up to $1081! The black marble was not selected. Next week the odds are looking good for a win with just a few marbles left.
Program
The iconic Dusty Baker, leader and baseball legend, had us all enthralled as he shared stories of his years in baseball. He graciously answered all of our questions and provided thoughtful and humorous commentary.

Lori McIntosh summed it up best in her Facebook post below. Click the link to the video to listen.
A Legendary Day with Dusty Baker at Rotary!

What an incredible day at Rotary with Dusty Baker! From his legendary baseball career to lessons in teamwork from his time in the Marines, Dusty shared stories that were both inspiring and down-to-earth. He reminded us that true friendships stand the test of time—those who still call him Johnny are the ones who knew him back in elementary school.
He also spoke about what it means to call California home, a place filled with opportunity, challenge, and deep community roots. His wisdom, humor, and passion for life left a lasting impact on all of us.
Huge thanks to Dusty for taking the time to share his journey with our Rotary family. These are the moments that make being part of Rotary in Auburn so special!
